A few things I'd just put out there:

"Increasing funded research" to me is a bad sign. It is hard to make money in contract R&D. It is often a dead end. This may just be something to keep people busy for awhile.

If they are setting themselves up for a sale, why move to smaller offices? Why not go all the way and close up shop? Why do they keep bleeding money like crazy? Fire everyone, including the "CEO," invest all that cash in something and become a mutual fund. Then at least I can have an investment with some return.

I just hope CIST hasn't forgotten they are public. They received the benefits of going public, now they have the consequences. They have shareholders to answer to.

As for the Universities not caring, CIST is small potatoes to them. You know what Harvard's freakin' endowment is? I would guess that no one (at the institutions) who cares about CIST as an investment comes close to understanding the business. And that people who do understand it (the scientists) don't really care about it as an investment for thier institution. Don't use the instutions actions or inaction of a barometer of anything.
