Siemens and AUDC: AudioCodes Voice over Packet Processors Empower Siemens Integrated Access Device
AC48104A-C Adds Voice Compression and Modem Relay Capabilities to Scalable System
(San Jose, CA) ? August 11, 1999 ? AudioCodes (NASDAQ: AUDC), a leading provider of IP Telephony and voice over packet network technologies, announced today that Siemens AG Information and Communications Networks will use AudioCodes' AC48104A-C voice over packet processor in a new integrated voice and data communications access device (IAD).
The new ATM access device, known as the InterXpress IAD 4700, is one part of the Siemens ATM access solution. It fits into the Customer Premise Equipment product range and terminates multiservice interfaces including frame relay, voice/compressed voice, constant bit rate, video, SMDS, transparent HDLC and LAN to customers. The aggregate side of the switch concentrates different services to ATM. Voice interworking functions, including PBX QSIG/DSS1 signalling, combined with voice compression features to offer high flexibility for usage in low-end carrier networks or campus and branch enterprise networks. Voice compression is available on E1/T1 as well as on S0 interfaces. The AudioCodes AC48104A-C processors make up the core of extension boards that provide voice processing and fax/modem relay options for the scalable InterXpress product.
"It was important to find a turn-key solution like AudioCodes? to power our voice compression applications," said Gerhard Vogt, IAD Project Manager at Siemens. "By using AudioCodes? integrated chips and software, we found a rich feature set that met our quality standards without having to go into the DSP software development business ourselves."
"Obviously, we are delighted that our products are becoming the norm for large, traditional equipment manufacturers as well as emerging Internet Telephony companies," said Zeev Pritzker, VP sales and marketing Europe and Asia for AudioCodes. "Design wins from a company like Siemens give us a great vote of confidence."
