Just thought I would share with you a recent anecdote about the importance of AMZN's "membership" numbers. I recently had occasion to look at the records of a health & fitness club that at various points in time has sold lifetime memberships. Taken at face value, they have one location that has 42,000 "active members", or roughly 12 members for every square foot of floor space in the facility. Thankfully, less than 1% of the "active" members show up on any given day, primarily those that have recently joined.
