Have to agree that the 'free look' and delay in filling after they have filled the quoted size is an unfair advantage. They really should lower the time to something like 5 seconds.

Nasdaq and the SEC allow these 'edges' because the MM's do assume risk in quoting a 2 sided market. Contrary to what is often posted, they HAVE to trade, you , as a private trader do not. If a stock is about to go from 50 to 25, without a halt, who do you think is gonna eat the shares on the way down. The MM's and those poor slobs that have resting buy orders. It sure wont be me.
