I subscribed to National Geographic from
'68 to '95 and have quite a few issues going
back to '49 that I got from my parents.

After several decades, the advertising becomes
interesting from a historical perspective. For
example the back cover of the May '61 issue
has an ad for a Sheaffer fountain pen ...

Sheaffer's new PFM Pen For Men travels
in the smartest circles! Men like its new
large capacity, exclusive Snorkel Pen clean-
filling action, and choice of 8 individualized
point styles. The bold, broad-shouldered
design of the PFM pen gives it a solid,
comfortable grip. The unique point is inlaid
so it can take man-sized pressure ...

I'm gradually thinning out my Geographics
but will keep an issue or two from each year
as mementos.
