Nope, I am suggesting that India had to let go of the ship under pressure from the US, which is eager to indulge in "engaging" North Korea in the same way it is doing with China.
North Korea is malleable under US pressure. But I am not sure about China and India. Show me one instance where US was able to substantially alter the Chinese. No democracy as practiced in US, Tibet, Tianaman Square, Human rights issue, Nuclear secrets stealth ---Don't mean a thing for the Chinese. The Chinese are getting what they want from US plus Most Favored Nation status for trade. Did China leave Tibet? It is a shame that Dalai Lama received the peace prize, but not his country. It is like cheating children. I personally feel that he should give it back. What a swap: peace prize for a whole country. Has the chinese human rights issue changed substantially and palpably? This nuclear stealth issue is bogged down under "China told this , US told that" kind of exchanges. On balance China got the most out of this NIXON-KISSINGER China adventure. China does not have to do anything but keep the mouth shut and everything will be done for them by the nervous US, who wants to curry favor with Chinese. Reason: Hope of making billions on trade. But China is ahead in the game. India has contributed so much to US in many fields of endevour, & did not steal any secrets from US. And see what Indians get . U think that it is fair. Now some moron is saying that the Indians and Israelis are going to put Y2K bugs. If Indians do something worthwhile, it is suspected as nefarious. |
