Fred,

It is a bogus claim to provide "virtually loseless to 350:1
compression". MPEG is an international stanard designed by
engineers from more than 30 different companies and it only
achieved 40:1 compression with very good quality. When
compression ratio is higher than 200:1, there is no guarantee
that the picture quality is acceptable.

Wavelet transform is a similar technology as Discrete Cosine
transform, which is the core of MPEG. Theretically, they are
almost identical. There is no reason that one should be a
lot better than the other. The key is that MPEG is internationally
accepted and wavelet is not. MPEG is also much optimized for
compression than wavelet.

Claiming 350:1 compression ratio is nothing but a marketing
trick, which is very irresponsible.
