<Going forward, other than MHz, the largest performance improvements will come from chipsets, IMHO, due to: - bug fixes in Athlon/chipsets (removes the workarounds) - chipset enhancements like PC133, AGP-4, dual-bank memory designs, etc> Ooops, I forgot a biggie here. Software! Today the x86 world of software is optimized for PII/PIII. Optimizations for Athlons (including the new instructions) should yield significant additional benefits.
