Looking at CuMine, I see a significantly smaller die, a much lower cost PGA package, fewer socketings and possibly competitive performance if the rumors are true. If Intel really does enjoy inherently higher yields, this further reduces their relative costs. Intel can undercut AMD's price and still enjoy a profit. AMD will be stuck with a large die, a complex expensive cartridge, multiple socketings, additional SRAMS and other components. If Intel can offer competitive performance at prices that will ensure continued losses for AMD, how long can this go on? I won't even speculate on what the future might hold should CuMine be more than simply "competitive".
