But how could such an agenda get 'pushed through'? We shouldn't grant Lebed's autobiographical wishful thinking at face value.... I mean the Orthodox Church is no Vatican, and Patriarch Alexis is no Pope John Paul II. BTW, the NATO/Vatican combo was pretty effective in hastening the falling-down of the Eastern block.
As far as Europe is concerned, I suspect that Germany --together with her eastern sphere of influence-- will be most upset with Lebed in the Kremlin whereas France will likely welcome Lebed's leadership as a good opportunity to tame Anglo-Saxon 'arrogance' in (Central) Europe....
