Frank,
Maybe you are the prime candidate to be the first home to be equipped with the new home super-router/bandwidth-aggregator. One side contains a patch panel for wiring back a jack panel from every room (each room's panel with a variety of RJ, coaxial, etc. jacks; some rooms with multiple panels for family companionship; and every room having several IR ports connected back from it as well). The other side contains a patch panel for you to connect in all your incoming pots lines, your ringdown line to your boatyard, your TV cable feed, your T-1's, your ISDN's, your DSL's, your cell-phone charger/docking cradles, your satellite dish, your 2 meter transceiver, etc. And the machine does the rest (totally dynamically least-cost routed, of course). You will then be able to program in a superceding priority level for yourself, at least until the household full of techies- and ITers-in-training figure out the programming.
{Mostly kidding, but we know it is coming.}
