Eicon and Jetstream Partner for Voice Over DSL Solutions

OCTOBER 5, 1999
MONTREAL,QUEBEC--
Jointly Developed Integrated Access Devices Provide Voice and Data
Solutions for Small Business Market
Eicon Technology, a leading provider of remote access products,
and Jetstream Communications, Inc., the leading provider of Voice
over DSL (VoDSL) equipment, today announced an agreement to
jointly market VoDSL solutions to carriers who want to serve the
lucrative, but untapped small business and remote office markets.
Joining Jetstream's VoDSL Partner Program, Eicon will develop
Integrated Access Devices (IADs) compliant with the Jetstream
VoDSL broadband access solution.
VoDSL reduces costs and simplifies operations for small business
telecommunications, providing carriers with the ability to offer
both voice and data services over a single copper pair. The
combined Eicon and Jetstream offering will enable carriers to
quickly deploy end-to-end VoDSL solutions for the branch office
and small- and mid-sized business markets.
"Eicon and Jetstream share a similar background with strong roots
in the CPE business," stated Ken Gingrich, Eicon's Senior Vice
President, Worldwide Sales & Marketing Operations. "This
relationship will enable both companies to realize their joint
vision of providing innovative Voice over DSL solutions to the
small and medium-sized business telecommunications market."
"Our partnership with an industry innovator like Eicon will
further accelerate the ability of carriers to cost-effectively
deliver multi-line voice and data services over regular copper
wire using DSL," said Jetstream's President and CEO, S. 'Sundi'
Sundaresh. "Partnered with Eicon, we can provide superior
end-to-end solutions that take advantage of Eicon's high
performance CPE technology." About Jetstream VoDSL
The Jetstream VoDSL broadband access solution enables carriers to
deliver multi-line local telephone service and high-speed data
over packet-based DSL access networks. It consists of three
components. The first is the CPX-1000 large-scale voice gateway
that resides in a carrier's regional switching center, serving as
a bridge between a Class 5 voice switch and a DSL access network.
The second component is a family of integrated access devices
(IADs) from Jetstream and its partner companies. IADs connect to
a DSL line at the subscriber premise and deliver 16 telephone
lines and continuous high-speed Internet or remote LAN access.
The last component, Jet-EMS, is a carrier-class element management
system enabling rapid deployment of large-scale VoDSL networks.
