PC,

For starters I think there has been news. I also think there is business likely to show up in '00 that is not currently in any sell-siders model. My interest in this thing began in when ATT mailed out their shareholder report for the second Q of '98. Get a copy and check it out. At the breakout session of the September '98 DLJ conference management talked about international orders being a bit weak and I waited for the 3rd Q earnings release to jolt any holders who were asleep at the wheel. Then they made the ATT announcement in late October '98 and the rest in history.

As far as the upcoming release goes, I don't think the stock sells off if they only meet the number. That is ancient history. Armstrong keeps coming back to them for more equipment and the earnings visibility is probably the best it has been in the company's history. I think there is certainly upside to the $1.50 in '00 and $1.90 '01 EPS numbers I am working with. I think if you want to play devils advocate maybe figure out what year they turn in peak earnings and start playing that game. I am hoping international orders come on strong at some point maintaining earnings growth of at least 25% or so into '02, '03. That type of deceleration might not sit so well with the fast money crowd though. But I think I have some time to figure that out.

As far as the mo-mo's go, we will soon know what maniacs took this stock up in the third quarter. Soundview's rec had to bring some of them in which certainly adds a little spice to the story. The holder list was not too crazy at the end of June probably given the mediocre sponsorship the stock had coming into calendar '99. Besides, the Lutheran Brotherhood showed up as a buyer in the June quarter and I figure I am on God's side at this point. They get inflows every sunday and think short sellers are all named Lucifer. Are you trying to start a jihad on this thread?

Speaking of shorts I have been waiting for them to show up here since they starting laying this stock out late last year. Perhaps it was part of an arbitrage strategy that is beyond my limited math skills but I hope they were hedged or else they are getting carried out in body bags. I am still pissed off about the bullshit rumors somebody started at the end of March. That cost me at least 50 basis points as we closed out the first quarter.

And no I am not loading the boat as that was done last year. I am a net seller going forward but I am not in that big of a rush. Unless I peek at the 5 year chart. That might make me blink!
