OFF TOPIC???Dear JDN, I thank you for your concern. And I know you are right. Using margin can get one in serious trouble. I know this Oh so well. I view margin as an amplifier in one's account and now try to use it only when I'm extremely bullish. I have yet to truly master this technique though. I have seen my cash account oscillate back and forth to a more than double only later to see it cut in half and then be forced to sell due to margin calls and then use margin to build it back up again. I've played the net stocks for great gains only to loose them when it all came crashing down. I've tried the day trading thing and I've seen great gains but always seemed to give it back. (I don't believe most traders do very well at all). Through this I've developed an incredibly thick inner stomach lining. What I've learned is to stick with the quality blue chip tech stocks and try not to get too wrapped up in what the market is doing day to day. I've had the majority of my IRA basking in the SUNW shine for over three years now and it has swollen because Sun has such a great story and I've been patient enough to wait for it.
Twister has it right in that it is extremely difficult to know when to get off the merry-go-round. In the case of SUNW I don't think it will be any time soon. However I do plan to sell off the margin portion of my account before the split and perhaps prior to earnings.
