You know not to get me going on education! All I will say on that is that I would like to see half the money that goes to prisons now be redirected to early childhood education in the inner city.... this would be a zero sum thing with a net positive result, imo.

But back to healthcare, I am not in favor of blanket socialized healthcare programs either. But you can't expect the 20 yr old independent contractors of the world to subsidize the big corps and elderly either. And then there are the chronically ill who can't get coverage from anybody. I would say some simple legislation that forces the same fees from the HMOs for all "groups"... meaning if Dell is paying 200/mo for a 30 yr/old female then that should be the individual price too... that would go a long way... and then some sort of protection for the chronically ill, forcing insurers to take at least a few... those 2 pieces of legislation would fix a lot, imo...
