John,
Celtic migration throughout Europe took several hundred years! We know they passed through Macedonia, they brought the wheel to Europe long before Romans! They settled in Macedonia and powered into Albania, up through present day Serbia, Croatia, Bosnia, Slovenia, passed through North of Italy and some settled in Orobic Alps valleys in Bergamo (we can tell that today by the dialect that spoken in Val Seriana that is understood in Wales and Normandy!!) They pushed into France, Wales, Irleland, and then England! After the Roman conquest, they mixed with Romans and produced much finer civilization in France, and Britian than what we had in the last 200 hundered years of Roman Empire. After the last Roman divisions were withdrew to Rome in mid-400's, Picts and Scots broke through the first Roman Wall(not Antonin Wall!) but Adrian Wall, and the Celts withdrew to the highland of Wales! In Europe we owe them a lot!
