Meanwhile here is an interesting quote by one of those who was supposedly not a Christian.
I have read the Bible, cover to cover, more than once. I have been surprised (but no longer am) to encounter Bible-thumping Christians who thump it, but have not read it other then specific passages when directed.
Got a source for the Patrick Henry quote? And is it your contention that Mr. Henry was a Christian?
By the way, quoting from memory is fine, if identified as such -- we can't run around with everything we know documented in books.<g>
Incidentally, how about a working jackleg definition of Christian for this discussion: Someone who believes that Jesus was/is a being beyond mortal, and who still has a hand in the affairs of the world. I know it's simplified, but it would allow us to make judgements about writings with a minimum of hair-splitting. What do you think?
I am here to learn, and to teach, not to attack anyone here. Let's try to avoid name-calling and other uncivilities. I came by my knowledge and opinions honestly, and I will assume the same of you. Let's discuss!
