I had it shortened by 8 feet and an addition of 36x40 added for the horses. The addition I insulated in the walls and had the ceiling sprayed with insulation. But I left the peak and the hip open. Air circulates and the ammonia doesn't build up in winter. Could be warmer but I think lowering the ammonia is more important. Wife's horses don't get the winter cough. Chickens... Did you ever reach in and grab an egg that didn't have a shell? Felt like grabbing a snake.
