AOL 5.0 will become a major catalyst for e-commerce

==========
America Online (AOL) released a new version of its access software
incorporating its long-delayed online photo storage agreement with
Eastman Kodak (EK). The company said new features in the 5.0
release include You've Got Pictures, giving consumers access to
Kodak-processed photos uploaded to the Internet; a new Internet
search feature, and an interactive calendar and scheduling
program. As part of the promotional push, AOL 5.0 CD-ROMs will be
distributed by mail and retail outlets nationwide including
CompUSA, Circuit City, Office Depot, J&R Computer World, and
Barnes & Noble. The company also revealed its new shopping site,
ShopatAOL. President Bob Pittman said, "Already, 18 million AOL
members are averaging nearly an hour daily online . . . and buying
$850 million in goods and services online every five weeks. We
expect AOL 5.0 will become a major catalyst for e-commerce."
