Re: the idea of a supercritical mass accumulating anywhere naturally... Scientific American did a story about it a few years ago, although I couldn't find it on their web site. I'll try to find the backissue but I'm afraid I've thrown it away. I have a vague recollection that some erosion process was theorized to have either caused the heavier uranium to accumulate or else it washed away whatever was acting as a moderator. I also recall some letters to the editor in following issues that were very skeptical that such a thing could have ever occurred. Dan
