Ian,
Hmmm. If you're long you want the stock to go up. That's how the game is played if you're "long".
The second option is, agreeably, true as well.
However, there is a difference in trading vs investing. I make trades that I hope go up to then become LT investments. This then "proves" to me it deserves to be so. I don't like making an trade that turns into a loser this early.
I believe in the philosophy of "velocity of money". Unchecked, it may take the very bright minds of the "market" a very long time to come to the rescue for brilliant, but underwater prospects. So...my money stagnates, which isn't acceptable to me.
I think you know that I am not whining about the downturn. I just thought you might have insight into what's recently holding this company back when other are moving forward.
Finally, I can easily sell my stake and move it to a company like JDSU or SDLI or ETEK or dozens of others that exhibit upside momentum. That's always an option, but not my point (I already own many of these....). I was looking for your non-TA view of the reasons we're not now at 15, and what it will take to get us back there, or higher.
