Hi GST; Re all that gold that is waiting to be dug up. (Or precipitated out of the oceans.) I first started school studying to be a mining engineer. (Boy was that a long time ago.) So I know that there is quite a bit of gold out there yet to be dug. Incidentally, there is a great reference book, used to be available from the US government print office, that lists the planet's known mineral resources. It came out during the Reagan administration, and was written, at least partly, to give evidence that the planet wasn't about to run out of much of anything. Makes great comparative reading to the trash science that came out in the 70s, and said we'd be fighting over food by now.

But anyway, lately, I've been learning a little about silviculture, also known as forestry. Most trees farmed today are for paper. From what I understand, there is even more paper available from trees than there is gold available from the earth. And trees are a renewable resource, so you can just go on making more and more paper, year after year. In addition, you can print bigger and bigger numbers on it. Seems like it's pretty obvious who wins the inflation race...
