Diversinet, Ericsson Partner On Wireless Security Solutions Demonstrated During Fall Internet World '99 In New York

NEW YORK, NEW YORK--

Diversinet becomes charter member of Ericsson CyberLab NY Developers Network to help foster secure wireless Internet solutions

Diversinet Corp. (NASDAQ: DVNT, Canadian Dealing Network: DVNT), the leading provider of security software for wireless e-commerce, is presenting its unique applications for wireless devices during Fall Internet World '99 in New York at the Ericsson CyberLab NY Partner Pavilion (NASDAQ: ERICY, Booth 3713). Diversinet is a charter member of the Ericsson CyberLab NY Developers Network and is working with CyberLab NY to pilot security solutions for wireless transactions.

Diversinet makes wireless e-commerce happen by providing the security for applications through its Passport product line. Passport is optimized for resource-constrained devices, including pagers, digital cellular and PCS phones, electronic organizers and smart cards. Diversinet uses a modular, patented approach to security that comprises encryption, digital certificates, digital signatures and digital permissions.

"CyberLab NY's focus on stimulating the wireless Internet industry, and the importance it has placed on financial applications, are exactly in line with Diversinet's strategy," says Nagy Moustafa, president and CEO of Diversinet. "CyberLab NY can serve as a 'wireless portal' of sorts for Diversinet by helping us link up with Ericsson's many ventures around the world to examine opportunities for providing our wireless security products," Moustafa says.

Passport is designed to ensure the safety of some of the most exciting wireless applications - such as personal banking, stock trading, shopping and healthcare - that are being implemented on wireless networks around the world.

Diversinet is actively exploring wireless security opportunities with Ericsson CyberLab NY. Located in New York's Financial District and Silicon Alley, CyberLab NY is a prototyping and business innovation center that fosters new wireless Internet applications and services in partnership with Silicon Alley entrepreneurs and the New York City business and investment community.

The Ericsson CyberLab NY Developers Network provides wireless data developers in Silicon Alley and across the United States with a direct connection to Ericsson worldwide and serves as a forum for exchanging information, generating new ideas and forming partnerships.

"E-commerce will become a driving force behind the widespread adoption of mobile communications and the wireless Internet," Donna Campbell, Director, Ericsson CyberLab NY. "Security software that is designed for mobile devices is critical to the success of such e-commerce applications as banking, stock trading and shopping. Diversinet's security solutions - especially its small, wireless-friendly digital certificates - are important to the adoption of wireless e-commerce, and Ericsson is looking forward to a continuing relationship that will explore new opportunities to create wireless Internet products."
