Hello Paul,

Gotta run to a meeting, but I wanted to try and reply to this one ...

Nope ... if you visit their web site, they are fighting to push for a network of distributed identity/proxy servers ... so it is not such a different concept.

Of course someone does ... the owner of the physical box! They are the one that will have to deal with the law when a court order shows up. They are the one that can hack at the hard drive all day and all night. They are the one that can alter code to modify servlets. This is exactly why *you* will want to pick and choose the service provider that you *trust* ...

Yes! Exactly! Or, you might have multiple safety deposit boxes where you put fragments that you trust at each one. And if the software that enables this, is able to provide the services without you have to manage the multiple locations? *That* is powerful software!

I don't think that we are in disagreement in concept, merely in some implementation details. There is another very key piece of software that, IMHO, enables all of this. And I haven't brought that up on purpose ... it is a valuable piece of information ... to Novell or any potential competitor ... ;-)
