A Members Only area on SI that's not in Public Domain might solve the problem for good. If before viewing this area, the SI members must click "yes" to a consensual adult access no-fault warning every time, etc. - mayb everyone'd be off the hook! (Disclaimer: U know i'm not a lawyer, it's just an idea that hasn't been tried & seems it would work) And make it completely Anonymous! No screennames posted, no access kept track of, no responsibility for content assumed by anyone, even the poster! Now THAT would be an interesting area, dontchathink?! SI could simply put any posts/posters that bother 'em over there, let it all hang out, everyone agrees before viewing it to accept whatever's said, disavowal of SI connection or Big Brother's editorial approval, etc.... just a free-zone area provided by SI for the private use of the consenting adult members only.
i don't like 2C anyone publicly rebuked like this for anything. Looks like AatPac is in cyber-stocks in a Puritan Village, brrrrrr. When it's just a show it's one thing, when there's a consequence involved & woodpile is being gathered before the verdict it's another. When sides are taken, lines are drawn, re-hashes & side-issues come to the forefront & Trouble Right Here In River City is of course the result. We've studied history & remember what comes next (maybe it especially gives me the creeps with my name being Joan, U know).
i don't particularly like the idea of casting a vote for a yes or no & taking it so seriously either, Blue - it's like schoolkids voting for Class President but the teacher has the right to refuse a candidacy based on who/what the teacher finds disagreeable.
Yeah, gimme the Card or gimme the Clothes or AatPac can gimme a free seminar... keep U company on the up 4 grabs list, LOL. My Real Vote is - High Time to find a solution to the recurring problem.... if not supplying an Anonymous Free Zone on SI (post # has been forwarded to, etc.), then something else.
Another good thing could come of it, the lurkers would flock to join SI ($ for buygnets) when the most fascinating controversial stuff on here becomes anonymously available to consensual paying members only.
