PB - Congrats to all the Intel folks who improved the Pentium III core to come up with the Coppermine architecture. Sounds like an excellent set of improvements to give new life to an old core. Great news on the scalability front too. Thanks for posting the info. The tech press has been incredibly inattentive. I trust that Intel's marketing department is not inattentive.

Regards,
Burt

There's also a lot of optimization (SW) work going on as well. A lot of people are under the impression that SW optimizations are a bunch of smoke and mirrors, but that's not true.

There's nothing that slows down a good processor more than bad SW. Optimizations are just a way of getting the SW out of the way of performance and letting the CPU shine through.

Just like PB and others... I can't wait for the actual numbers to come out. I assume that at that time, some people will explain it away as a trick, smoke and mirrors, or some other story. What it'll really show is what CPU is the FASTEST IN ALL THE LAND.
