I don't remember ever posting to the folder from my office, but seeing the news of the arbitration panel's ruling in Gemstar's favor is what gorilla gaming is all about. A couple days ago the company improved the proprietary nature of the technology by buying TV Guide (thus ending any disputes about that and improving the market dominance of the product.) Today we learn that Gemstar's proprietary technologies continue to remain enforceable, making the gorilla stronger than ever. The panel's ruling sends a loud and clear message to those who would think otherwise.

And oh by the way, the cash coffers are going to get just a little bit bigger as a result of the ruling.

I understand (I think) the legitimate concerns about the additional businesses that come with the acquisition of TV Guide and management's ability to execute the changed model. But for those wanting to be assured of the gorilla-like qualities relating to the IPG part of the business, that part of the business model is stronger than ever.

I look forward to the conversation when I get home tonight.
