Is this further indication that the telecomm industry is going to be a free for all, first to market, fragmented, cut throat business in the immediate future (as if they are not already)?

I hope so! With the recent mergers and the high rate of growth within telecom it's becoming apparent that each carrier will have critical mass (coverage wise) and roaming and interoperability is becoming less and less important.

You don't think the TDMA and GSM fools will just surrender? Cut throat competition and data will speed the adoption of CDMA.
