hey wily,

much to my surprise, here's what i discovered after a little experimenting with this browser loading issue...

contrary to what i thought was happening, with three windows open, i'd click on a bookmarked url then quickly put a different window on top while the previous one was loading. expecting the window in back to pop up front when the page loaded, i was surprised to see that it remained in the background. i mixed it up a bit and switched from clicking on bookmarked urls to manually entering the url into the location bar. same thing... the browser window in back would stay in that position when the document filled.

but there ARE occasions when the opposite is true. when i click on a hyperlink in SI, then quickly pull another window on top of SI, when the SI link fills it makes the SI page jump on top.

thinking then that the key may be that clicking on a link within a page is what causes the window to pop up front, i tried doing just that with other non-SI webpages. and the windows stayed put behind the others.

so....

what have i learned from this? so far, that i agree with ed that most of the time the page fills in a window in back and it stays right there, behind the others. with a few exceptions. and so far it's just SI.

any clues from here?
