Hey, she wasn't punished - at least not by Western justice. She was allowed to go home after exact identification of her papers. Her husband declined comment on the News, although it would have been in his scope of work ... GGG.

EDIT: At least after her second trial she whould have known they wouldn't keep her here, so it cannot have been her goal to evade the waiting time for an application of emigration. So you must be right about guilty feelings as a motive. GGG
