Tuesday April 8 9:00 AM EDT Motorola's CopperGold Evaluation System Enables the Speedy Delivery of ADSL Systems
System created to help customers reduce time-to-market and increase competitive edge
AUSTIN, Texas, April 8 /PRNewswire/ -- Motorola Inc Semiconductor, developer of the high-performance, single-chip CopperGold Asymmetric Digital Subscriber Line (ADSL) Transceiver, today announced another exciting addition to its standards-based line of ADSL products. Developed to help Motorola customers reduce their time-to-market, and therefore increase their competitive edge, the CopperGold Evaluation System is designed to provide a complete and convenient evaluation platform for CopperGold ADSL products.
The CopperGold Evaluation System includes two evaluation boards, cabling and necessary software. Because the evaluation system performs complete bit error rate testing on an ADSL link, it can provide a performance baseline for the entire CopperGold System.
Included in the evaluation system is the CopperGold System Analyzer, a PC- based graphical user interface (GUI) application which can be used to monitor and control the evaluation system. The easy-to-use system analyzer provides a graphical view of transceiver state, bit error rate statistics and channel utilization. In addition, it can be used to create scripted system tests, including the control of an external line simulator. This enables customers to automate their performance testing of the CopperGold System, which can save valuable development time and resources, and help get products to market faster.
"In an increasingly competitive and rapidly-changing business environment, equipment vendors are faced with the need to reduce product development cycles, time-to-market and project risk," said Dave Bush, Motorola Semiconductor's broadband systems and applications engineering manger. "The CopperGold Evaluation System has been designed with our customers' needs in mind, to provide them with a competitive edge and speed end users' access to advanced communications services over the existing copper infrastructure." CopperGold Evaluation System Components
The comprehensive and convenient CopperGold Evaluation System is shipped with the following hardware components: two CopperGold evaluation boards, including the transceiver, line driver, on-board bit error rate tester (BERT), an M68302 processor and an LCD character display; and RS232/422 cables. In addition, the evaluation system comes with the CopperGold System Analyzer software for Windows NT, and the CopperGold Control Software pre-loaded onto the board.
The CopperGold Evaluation System allows customers to measure performance of the entire CopperGold System including the transceiver, line driver and the control software. The system analyzer can also be customized for use with CopperGold-based products.
