Digital Microwave Corporation Accelerates Release of
Altium Broadband Radio Family

SAN JOSE, Calif., Oct. 5 /PRNewswire/ -- Digital Microwave
Corporation (Nasdaq: DMIC - news), today announced that the
innovative Altium broadband radio is currently shipping in
the 6, 7, 8, 11, 15, 18, 23, and 26 GHz bands, and
additional frequencies of 13, 28, and 31 GHz are scheduled
to begin shipments before December. This extensive product
coverage, achieved since the Company's introduction of the
Altium 7 GHz radio in 1998, is the result of an accelerated
product introduction developed by Digital Microwave to
address the needs of the broadband access market for high-
capacity radios. The Altium family of radios is now the
broadest line of STM-1/OC-3 radios in the industry, and the
only product of its type capable of transmitting 155 Mbps in
only 28 MHz of spectrum.

``The emerging needs for high-capacity millimeter wave
radios of many different frequency bands, particularly for
broadband access applications, are placing high demands on
product availability,' said Charles Kissner, Chairman and
CEO. ``The actions we have taken to accelerate product
development and manufacturing will allow us to better serve
this exciting and growing market.'

The compact design of the Altium radio, its fiber-level
performance, and its ability to interconnect with a fiber-
optic network transmission infrastructure are combined with
flexibility and cost effectiveness to make the Altium radio
an attractive solution for network operators needing to
bring high-speed data access to their customers. The
completeness of the Altium radio family in U.S. and
international frequencies makes the product line highly
accessible worldwide for broadband network deployment.

Along with Digital Microwave Corporation's DXR, XP4, and
DART families of radios, the Altium radios will be displayed
and demonstrated in Digital Microwave stand Number 1130.048
in the USA Pavilion at Telecom 99 in Geneva, Switzerland,
October 10-17.

Headquartered in San Jose, California, Digital Microwave
Corporation provides microwave radio solutions to connect,
enable and grow communications networks worldwide. The
Company's industry-leading broadband, medium-capacity and
low-capacity radios transport data, voice, and video for
public and private networks in a wide range of global
environments. Digital Microwave Corporation brings value to
a diverse range of customers through its vast array of
quality systems, services and support.
