Actually, Gemstar doesn't have subscribers. They license ipg enabling software to set top box makers, cable companies, vcr &tv manufacturers, etc. The IPG becomes a very sticky portal for video, and there is advertising potential similar to the yahoo business model. Sony is licensed to use gmst software on their stb's. They pay $10/stb, and give gmst a big chunk of the future advertising revenue (around 40%). uf
