CALGARY, ALBERTA--(Canadian Corp News, October 6, 1999)--

Technology Provides Cost-Effective Audio Solution for Consumers by
Allowing Surround Sound From Only Two Speakers

QSound Labs, Inc. (NASDAQ: QSND) and The Electronic Device Group of
Mitsubishi Electronics America Inc., today introduced the first chip
integrating QSound Labs' Matrix Decoder/Virtualizer (QMDV(TM))
technology with tone control features on Mitsubishi

's M61500FP Sound Processor. The integration provides an audio
solution for consumers by allowing them to receive surround sound audio
quality in applications such as stereo television, audio systems, and
home theater from only two speakers.Mitsubi shi's M61500FP Sound
Processor is the first in a new family of QSurround-based sound
processor chips that will be offered by Mitsubishi. The QSurround
licensing fee will be bundled into the price of the chip, which will
provide consumers with a cost-ef fective solution without having to
license the technology themselves.

"Mitsubishi is delighted to introduce a new family of sound processors
that incorporate QSound Labs' QSurround technology," said George Riehm,
senior product marketing manager at Mitsubishi Electronics America,
Inc. "This family will provide customer

s with outstanding and cost-effective 'virtual surround' 3D sound
performance for a wide range of audio applications.""We are very
pleased that Mitsubishi chose our QSurround technology as an integral
part of the M61500FP Sound Processor chip," said David Gallagher,
president of QSound Labs. "This relationship provides QSound with a
great opportunity for expanded exposure in the consumer electronics
market."

QSurround Technology

QSound's QSurround family of 3D audio processes is well suited to
consumer electronic products. They meet the challenge of all
multi-channel audio delivery formats while addressing issues of space
constraints, budget and practicality. Specifically, QMDV provides a
cost-effective solution for the virtualization of matrix
surround-encoded stereo streams by eliminating the need for a separate
matrix decoder. When the input signal is plain stereo, QSound's
QXpander(TM) stereo soundfield expansion i s applied. When the signal
is in matrix surround format (typical of many current TV broadcasts and
VHS videotape rental movies), virtualization takes place automatically
creating the effect of a multi-speaker surround soundfield using only
two physical
