The Promise of New Life

I marvel at the simple promise made by these plump tulip bulbs. The paper-thin protective shell and heft of the fleshy inner bulb brings memories of fall plantings past. Flush from the autumn air, Sue joins me in the garden offering cider. I rub her rounded belly.
"How's baby?"
