Marvin,

The e-commerce business is running @around $700 million right
now. Not a huge business yet. It is still a fairly small
component in the internet itself. It is growing & gaining
momentum daily (obviously) and is predicted to be $3billion +
in the next 12-18 months. That's still pretty small. When
you consider the potential for electronic enterprises, it's
a drop in the bucket. Once successful business models are
developed and a tradition is established it will REALLY take
off. I can see exponential growth in 3-5 years.

So, yes, the e-commerce need for servers will grow right with
it. The 5% figure is, naturally, an estimate I read in a
report about 1 month ago. I don't remember where. I don't
think it takes an MBA to understand the room for growth in
the server market and what is going to driver that growth.
Sun's original vision for the future of computing, from as
long as 5 years ago, is just beginning to come to fruition.
