So what you're saying is that all the people who served the country during war, but without being sent to the theater of war, should just feel ashamed about their service, and not feel that they had served their country? An interesting opinion, but not one shared by all, I believe. Of course, it's a cushier job to serve stateside. Reagan, as you may not know, enlisted to be sent overseas, but was rejected because of his eyesight.
I don't, personally, know anyone who saw combat even during VietNam, but I know a lot of people who were drafted. They are conscious of their good fortune in not seeing combat, but they do think they served their country, too. |
