I'd recommend this guy better going back school to study some recent history. Doesn't he remember what going on at Texas Instruments a few years back? TI disbanded it microprocessor unit, sold the whole of its defense industry, its printer and its memory business to focus solely on DSP business. And look at how sucessful they are now; since the sale of its Memory unit (over 3 years ago), their stock has been splitted twice and moved from $11/shr to the over $91/shr yesterday. He might be right 10 or 15 years back. But today with the rapid advancement of technology and the highly competitive market condition, in order to be successful AMD has to stay being focused and doing extremely well in only a few areas of their expertise, which is microprocessor/flash-memory businesses, rather than doing so many things and not very goods at any of them.
