I've heard more and more often that during the evenings, cable modem slows down to a crawl. I've checked out one Road Runner system during the evening, and it seemed to work fine but I was not in a heavily subscribed district. I've been getting more and more in a cash situation, or startups. The valuations of many internet related plays have gotten to levels where it causing my blood pressure to go up as well. As for ADSL startups, I made a small investment in Itex which is making a software based ADSL chip. Intel has also invested in this one. Itex is actually a subsidiary of UMC fab in Taiwan. Other than that, I've sold out of Uniphase, Broadcom, RealNetworks, and they've all doubled since. Can you believe it, I exited Harmonic Lightwaves at 15. Today it is 100+. I'm trying to decide whether to get back into Ciena. I'm currently just monkeying around with no particular focus lately. I wish I put money where my mouth was because I used to talk up a storm about Fibre Channel. I rode Ancor from 15 down to 1? and then back to 30+ where I sold off. What a ride!
