Just look back in history and see how well Continental airlines did coming out of bankruptcy.

Indeed. It took two bankruptcies, but nowadays Continental is wildly profitable and a force to be reckoned with.

IMHO holding back for an improved offer from Onex is a sensible strategy, refusing the merger altogether (as AC management is doing) is suicidal...
