How do you know this? Yahoo's pre-tax investment income of $10 million this quarter is much higher than past quarters.

Investment income is not reported as part of operating earnings - it's reported as investment income. How would anyone outside of Yahoo know when Yahoo is trading in marketable securities it owns? (by the way, it's spelled 'figured')
