LOS ANGELES--(ENTERTAINMENT WIRE)--Oct. 7, 1999-- First Miracle Group Inc. (OTC BB:MVEE) Thursday announced that Emmett/Furla Films has signed a passel of talented actors to star with Dennis Hopper in the independent teen thriller ''Held for Ransom.''

Debi Mazar (''Goodfellas'') will star as Hopper's girlfriend in the adaptation of a best-selling novel by Lois Duncan (''I Know What You Did Last Summer''), which is scheduled to go before the cameras on Oct. 25 in Florida. Hopper will play JD, who masterminds the kidnapping of a group of high school students who attempt to thwart their abductors only to discover that one of their parents is involved in the scheme.

The newly signed cast also includes Zachery Ty Bryan (''Home Improvement''), Kam Heskin (''Sunset Beach''), Jordan Brower (''Speedway Junky''), Randy Spelling (''Sunset Beach'') and Tsianina Joelson, all of whom will play teens that JD holds hostage in Florida's everglades while waiting for money from their wealthy parents.

Joan Van Ark (''Three Tall Women,'' ''Knots Landing''), Timothy Bottoms (''Blue Sky,'' ''Texasville'') and John Getz (''Maggie Day'') have just been brought on to play some of the teen's parents.

Lee Stanley, who wrote the ''Held for Ransom'' screenplay, will direct the picture, to be produced by partners Randall Emmett and George Furla of Emmett/Furla Films. Tony Cataldo, David Glasser and Adam Stone will executive produce. Barbara Bersell and Janice Jacobson will serve as co-producers.

''We're thrilled to have such a gifted, attractive group of actors coming on board,'' said Emmett. ''Their abilities will perfectly complement Hopper's tremendous talent and charisma.''

Emmett/Furla, whose upcoming credits include ''After Sex,'' starring Brooke Shields; ''Speedway Junky,'' starring Jonathan Taylor Thomas, Jesse Bradford, Daryl Hannah and Tiffani-Amber Thiessen; and ''Escape to Grizzly Mountain,'' have arranged financing through First Miracle Group and Cutting Edge.

Emmett/Furla and Rick Rosenthal, of Grakal, Root and Rosenthal, negotiated on behalf of the producers.
