I would have to agree with your assessment of Ascends latest news. I did a little snooping around Alcatel’s web site. I have never heard of the company though it appears they market mostly in Asian and European countries. I did see a news release involving Bell South.

Their address was in Paris and it looked to me that they were mainly in the service business as far as Telecommunications goes. They did offer packaged products (mobile switches ect.) and manufacture power cables and batteries while providing electrical engineering services.

I sent a mail message asking for verification on the chip set. If I get a response I could post if you would like.

The bottom line I think resides on the royalty issue. If Amati can collect a fraction of every DMT modem produced and market a product as well...
