Joan, I have thought that many IMS folks have been buying like crazy for the past 9 months in order to avoid y2k problems, many of whom may not have upgraded anything for another couple of years. Thus folks who might have been in the market for hardware will already have been in the market. Also, I agree that the only test isn't Jan 1st or 2nd. I personally think next Jan and Feb will be an excellent time to buy, because I think the prices will be crashing by then, if not in December from panicked retailers.
