I think that the real issue there is whether MAJC will actually achieve design wins and go to any significant production volume. This chip started as something called UltraJava about four years ago when the world was in a Java frenzy. About two years ago it was switched away from direct Java code execution. So now it is a media processor. Media processors were all the rage a couple of years ago including Unclewest's favorite, the Chromatic MPact. But they pretty much all bombed. Now there are several new ones coming to silicon. I would be shocked if many of them succeed but maybe some of them will. I view MAJC as an R&D project that kept getting funded and is close to silicon so Sun had to do something and they decided to present it and see if there's interest.
