I wouldn't quite go that far. Today we can perform really deep spectral analysis and adjust control variables almost minute by minute. With daily sales assessments, JIT delivery, the market can adjust suddenly. Just look at the reaction in memory chips as a result the Taiwan earthquakes. Chip prices jumped up and have already come down. In the old days, economic ignorance would have been so great that this could have been a major hitch. I don't think it much matters now. Within a few years we will have daily models of the economy in which samples of businesses will be sharing their sales, employment etc. data with a cooperative data base. We will be able to make mid week corrections, instead of waiting months to find out what's happening.
