Economic Data for Friday, October 8, 1999 Payroll Employment for September = unch Rate = 4.2% Average hourly wages = +7 cents or 3.8% yr/yr stats.bls.gov Payroll employment was essentially unchanged in September, and the unemployment rate remained at 4.2 percent, the Bureau of Labor Statistics of the U.S. Department of Labor reported today.
