(COMTEX) B: COMPUMED ANNOUNCES FAVORABLE BETA SITE RESULTS FOR AUTOMA
B: COMPUMED ANNOUNCES FAVORABLE BETA SITE RESULTS FOR AUTOMATED OSTEOGRAM(R)
2000 - COMPANY PROVIDES UPDATE ON TELEMEDICINE BUSINESS Outlook -

LOS ANGELES, Oct 8, 1999 /PRNewswire via COMTEX/ -- CompuMed, Inc.
(Nasdaq: CMPDC) announced today that it has received favorable
beta-site results from the operation of its Automated OsteoGram(R) 2000
Software at multiple clinical locations.

"Results from our beta-sites indicate that our Automated OsteoGram can
diagnose osteoporosis with the highest degree of accuracy of any
product on the market," stated Robert Goldberg, CompuMed Chairman and
CEO. "It requires only a simple hand X-ray that is interpreted by our
Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approved software. Our goal is to
make the Automated OsteoGram(R) 2000 the test of choice for
osteoporosis testing among medical practitioners worldwide. We are
looking forward to a successful product launch of the Automated
OsteoGram during the first quarter of 2000," Goldberg added.

The Company also announced that its telemedicine business continues to
post significant gains in revenues and new user placements. CompuMed
recently awarded a purchase contract to a private OEM manufacturer for
300 new electrocardiogram (ECG) units and a new Central ECG Storage
System that is considered state of the art. "We believe our ECG
processing revenue will increase significantly as a result of the
placement of these new units in the balance of 1999 and 2000. The
Central ECG Storage System will also enable CompuMed to pursue
opportunities in the clinical research field," Goldberg commented.

CompuMed, based in Los Angeles, California, develops solutions to
important medical problems through the use of computer technology. In
addition to the Automated OsteoGram(R) 2000 and the developmental
Digital OsteoView 2000, CompuMed has developed computer-aided
telemedicine services for cardiology and currently provides on-line
computer interpretation of electrocardiograms to physicians,
government, and corporate health care providers.
