You know infinitely more about this than I, but I think the point that is being made here periodically is that technology does tend to flow to a standard that eventually becomes dominant. I don't think anyone expects cdma or one of its variants to become the standard soon, but there is momentum in that direction and it is certainly superior to at least some of the others. Technical superiority often times does NOT carry the day, however.

What some of us bulls see evolving are a series of events that are getting us toward the goal of one standard. Having multiple "standards" is inefficient and these types of excesses are weaned from economies faster than any other time in history. I would suggest that we will see 1 VERY dominant wireless technology within 10 years, maybe sooner, but certainly not as quickly as 5. This will be the "standard" and incredibly difficult to dislodge I don't know whether it will be cdma, but it is positioned VERY well now.
