Steven - re. "wartime duties as easy as anybody's." Maybe so, maybe not. Lots of people with wartime duties on the home front had jobs that were definitely NOT easy, starting with FDR.

It's quite possible that Reagan's wartime duties were stressful as hell (I'm citing possibility, not fact).

For instance, IF part of his job was to constantly review raw footage of combat and it's aftermath, this job was not a day at the beach and might easily result in personal identification with combat forces. I suspect a decent Ivy lawyer could get him millions for some kind of mental anguish!
